    Thanks Steve. I have the same bike. One question, I heard that those Acros bearings have a side up and and a side down. I have checked a pair I have but haven’t seen any arrows or other. Is that true? Reversing the sense when mounting them can be fatal. Thx

      Bearings comes with a little bezel (like a conic shape). It must be point out into the frame. There is no way to fail with it because the shape in the frame is made to fit with the bearing shape.

    Hi, if you're still reading the comments: I just bought a used Canyon Ultimate off someone, and the out-front mount of the H36 is chronically loose. The bolts tighten up while there is still wiggle room (1-2mm) for the plastic cover & outfront mount. Am I missing a layer of some kind? Currently I just have the two long screws through the plastic cable cover and the out-front mount. I cannot find a manual or anything online so far. I could just fill the wiggle room up with some foam but I find it very odd, so I wanted to check. If you know more, I'd love to hear it!

    4:09 "...and cut the steerer tube if necessary". It seems like voluntary step, however in case, I want to keep aerocockpit in the same height as I am used with my standard cockpit, do I need to cut any lenght ? I have Grizl, meaning Stem V13 90mm. Please advise.

    • @StevenMolina
      @StevenMolina 2 роки тому

      Cut is not necessary you can put the spacer over/under the aerocockpit but a caveat: as far as I remember, the aerocockpit height is lower than V13 stem, it means if you keep the steer tube length, you must check when you mount everything that there is no gaps between the spacers/top cap/ aerocockpit/frame.

    Hi Steven, I would like to ask you for your advice again. Should I put some carbon gripper paste into of steerer tube (fork) where the wedge expander is seated? Because when I wanted to set up height of my cockpit H31 or put it down I could not tighten the cap screw for 2Nm. The screw started cracking and plastic liner has been broken. The wedge expander been pulled up. That means that I wanted to tighten the cap screw for 2 Nm and the wedge expander is pulled up through cap screw. Would you be so kind and if it possible to send me copy of instalation manual for your upgraded cockpit or write me an answer. Thank you very much I appreciate your help. Kind regards. Libor Nemcok

    The secret to removing that upper bearing wedge is to knock the steer tube from the side with a mallet. Hit it enough times and it should knock the two parts away from each other.

    • @StevenMolina
      @StevenMolina 2 роки тому

      I prefer avoid the use of a mallet when carbon fiber is present.

    Maybe i missed it, but what is the right headset bearing? In the Inet i found this "is44/is44 bearing set including centering ring. The two bearings in the dimensions 44x35x5,5 and 44x33x6 are used in the models Endurace CF SLX / CF SL / CF, Grail, Inflite CF SLX & Ultimate CF EVO / SLX / SL, among others. " But on the website the set costs €60. under an other video i found: Upper: 6707-2RS, Inner x Outer x Depth (mm): 35 x 44 x 5 Bottom: AC3748, Inner x Outer x Depth (mm): 37 x 48 x 7 with one 45° chamfer on inner side but i think this is for an older version. Where do you buy your replacement?

    • @Trimate02

      All canyon bikes are with acros headset. Is 44/44 is the correct one for this - and for a lot of canyon - model.

    These bearings are very poor in quality and the cover design is poor too, mine only last 9 months, had difficulty removing them with a lot of rust. I have an Endurace CL SL 8.0, had to order it directly with Canyon, nobody has it locally. Order at least two pair. Advice: remove it and grease it frequently.

    Hey there, I have installed the hubdoctor kit, but now my my crankset is moving in drivnig direction when the wheel is durning. This is not what I have expected. Any idea what went wrong?

    • @StevenMolina
      @StevenMolina 2 роки тому

      Hi! It depends the type of movement you are getting. When my transmission is very clean and lubbed (just after washing my bike) if I rotate the crank with my hands and then left the wheel spin freely, all is so clean and low friction that inertia of the wheel makes crank rotate. If your case is that your freehub loss the hability of spin free or backward without moving the rear wheel, maybe your hub is too tight, due to you keep the original rubber seal o use one of the seals that comes on the kit that is ticker that the other. The seal just should be there in the bottom and don’t produce contact or friction at all.

    Thanks for the video. The update works well and the backlash due to the horrible plastic bushing is now permanently fixed. Just one IMPORTANT note about the reassembly of the freewheel after the replacement of the bushing with the bearing: the original seal placed in the rear part must be disassembled. In the video this step is missing!

    • @nadz336

    • @StevenMolina

      I think it depends of your bike fit configuration, maybe better ask to a bike fitter. As an starting point, check the bike size charts in Canyon ‘s website, there you can see the stem size according to frame size. I think a combination of Canyon website information and bike fitter advice is the best.

    Very helpful. I had some headset play in my new Ultimate CF SLX 8. I took it apart, bearings looked fine, no damage to carbon either. Saw your video and I learned that my bolt tightening sequence was incorrect. So I loosened everything and re-tightened starting with the load on the bearings (i.e. the cover), then the integrated stem/handlebars, and finally the bottom bolt that holds the fork in place. Play fixed! Thanks!
